Live Music

Peterborough's vibrant live music scene happens in bars, pubs, restaurants, small halls and concert theatres.
Whether you're looking for nostalgic classics, a symphony orchestra, folk, rock, punk or cutting edge new Canadian music, you'll find it somewhere in Peterborough

Market Hall

Built under an historic clock tower, this iconic concert hall was once a marketplace, a gymnasium, a mall fixture, and — twice — was at risk of being lost entirely. Local supporters have ensured that today, it remains one of the most important cultural spaces in the city.

Market Hall hosts local and international touring music, dance and theatre productions, and is home to many local production companies including the ReFrame Film Festival, the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts, New Stages Theatre, and Public Energy dance.

Showplace Theatre

Black Horse Pub and Restaurant

Located in the historic Morrow building downtown, the Black Horse hosts live music 7 days a week and embodies the feeling of your neighbourhood pub.

Thursday night is by far the most popular night, featuring the city's longest standing jazz & blues residency. Bring your dancing shoes for a double bill of dinner entertainment on Saturdays followed by a dance band in the evening. Or bring your instrument to the Monday night jams, or Tuesday night open mics.

The Pig's Ear Tavern

Affectionately known as "The Piggy," this iconic music venue closed after 152 years in operation... then reopened by a pair of Trent University alumni in 2023. Walking into this space will feel like walking back in time!

Live music Thursdays - Sundays, open mic Tuesdays, karaoke Wednesdays, trivia Thursdays, and "pingo" Fridays. You have to come here to see it for yourself!
