Enjoy an upscale, peaceful stay at the Rusticators Inn on the banks of the Trent-Severn Canal. The Rusticators Inn offers flexible accommodations for solo travellers up to groups of 10. All guests have access to a common lounge with coffee/tea station and laundry.
Each guest suite features a private 3-piece bathroom, a lock and latch on the door, dedicated work space, in-floor heating, in-room thermostat, central air conditioning, advanced air filtration, dimmable room lighting, adjustable privacy / black-out window shades, 100% cotton bed sheets, hairdryer and more.

We live and work in our custom home adjacent to the Inn, and we love to provide a great launch spot for people keen on exploring our city. Great Homebase To Explore The City
What a great location! We walked with the kids to a huge park close by for some daytime fun then at night we walked again, this time downtown for some nice food. It was so great not needing a car. The lift locks were also impressive and practically right behind the building! We’ll be back.
Perfect For Our Large Group
I booked the whole place for me and 3 other families which worked out great. The newly renovated rooms were spacious and comfortable and each with their own ensuite! The beds were lovely, one of the kids even asked “where did they get this mattress!”Lol. It’s got a huge foyer for outdoor gear and a little table for breakfast. Some great food and drink spots close by as well!
The hosts are very nice and accommodating!
Comfortable Beds, Great Location
The newly renovated room, shower, perfectly firm mattress, and convenient location made for an absolutely wonderful stay. We enjoyed walking to the Peterborough Lift Lock, exploring the beautiful nearby beaches and dining at delicious local restaurants.
Modern, Warm and Inviting
I had an amazing time staying at the Rusticators Inn during my recent visit to Peterborough while attending Victoria’s Strings Fest workshop and retreat. The house is beautiful, clean fully renovated with a modern feel, yet warm and inviting. It has everything you need. Very close to everything and a great access to the canal. I will be recommending it to friends and family, and hope to be back in the near future. Highly recommended!

Seasons & Weather
Spring (late March - mid June)
This is a magical season in Peterborough. Early spring can be messy with melting snow and mud, and weather up to early April can swing unpredictably between snowy and icy days to gloriously warm. The Victoria Day long weekend (third weekend of May) is an unofficial start of vacation season and reliable beach weather. This is also the weekend that the Peterborough Lift Lock opens for navigation season.
Summer (mid June - late September)
Plan for hot and humid weather 22C and above, with heat waves exceeding 40C. Pack a good hat, lightweight clothes and sunscreen. Occasional thunderstorms and wildfires may make for some indoor activity days at a local museum, art gallery, pubs or even the Axe Club! Long daylight hours make way for endless summer fun, festivals, events and adventures. Seasonable heat is usually milder in early and late summer.
Fall (late September - mid December)
Cooler nights arrive as a welcome respite. Fall is the most colourful time of year in Peterborough, especially along the canal which is lined with beautiful mature maple trees, and along the many nature trails around the city. Nights grow longer and cooler, and rain turns into our first snowfall typically in November.
Winter (mid December - late March)
Short daylight hours and cold weather drives many locals to the warmth and comfort of indoors. But for those who embrace Canadian winters with warm layers of clothing and a cozy toque, this is the time to play in the snow! There’s only one time of year to snowshoe, ski, and make snow angels.
Getting To Peterborough
By Car
From Toronto, drive east on the 401. Exit to Highway 115 North to Peterborough.
Alternatively, drive east on the 407 (tolls apply, but free past Brock Road), then exit to Highway 115 North to Peterborough.
Travel time is approximately 1.5 - 2hours.
From Ottawa, travel west on Highway 7. Travel time is approximately 3.5 hours
By Bus
From the Greater Toronto Area, take the GO Transit Lakeshore East train to Oshawa station and transfer to GO Bus route 88. The bus will stop at the downtown Peterborough bus terminal and continue to Trent University.
Approximate travel time 3 hours from Toronto's Union Station.

Public Transit (bus)
Peterborough operates a public bus system. Route frequency decreases during summer months (June - August).
Be sure to use the Peterborough transit app to track buses as they do not reliably operate on time and can be earlier or later than expected.
